2018-2020
ARCHIVED IMAGES
The weekly feature series for Spring/Summer 2022 is our expression of art, placed and enjoyed in a natural setting.
Three key themes that have always inspired us, are luxury, grit and celebration. These informed each environment.
'COPS ISSUE'
At COPS, creating art is at the centre of everything we do.
It drives us to pursue new ideas constantly, challenging the norm and reimagining what a doughnut shop could be.
Our Fall/Winter 2022 weekly feature series is inspired by some of our favourite labels, highlighting the innovative and provocative imagery they use to express their persona.
'OPEN FOR INTERPRETATION'
At COPS, our aim has always been to bridge the gap between the art forms that inspire us and showcase our products in a new and innovative way, while not taking ourselves too seriously.
'ART WE EAT'
This weekly feature concept was inspired by the endless forms of art we consume.
Different artworks are like music genres, running the gamut of human emotion and speaking to some, not all.
In the world of art, who is the true judge? The artist themselves or the viewer? What makes one piece of art good and one bad? It’s all subjective. Or is it? This is the beauty and pain of art.
But what do we know? We’re just out here sticking doughnuts to a canvas, yelling “starting bid at $50,000!” hahaha
'NATURAL HABITAT'
This weekly feature concept is about capturing the everyday moments and spaces where our products come to life. Like the park or the office.
But one of the most popular destinations a box of cops ends up, is a party. So what better way than to showcase our next feature glazes live, with our own twist, in the midst of the chaos, music & sweaty mayhem.
'OUT OF BOUNDS'
Recently I was asked, can anything be art?
I like to believe the answer is yes. I think it's about the article in question being placed in the right context, given space to breathe, with receptive and curious viewers, wanting to know it's story.
I believe that art is something that energizes us, not only when we see and experience it, but also when we create it. Spotlight a fondue tower overflowing with tantalizing glaze or a dripping doughnut on a barbed wire sculpture and voila! I think that's art! no? Common...yum.
I read Rick Rubins's book recently, ‘The Creative Act,’ (solid read…. would 100% recommend) he said when it comes to creating "the audience comes last". This is an interesting dichotomy in the business of hospitality where "the customer comes first"
I guess he's saying that in order to create genuine art, it must be true to yourself and not created with how we think it may be perceived and received by the viewers. So, how do we create art and innovate whilst also selling doughnuts? No idea lol
One thing we do know is this art is worth eating.

'YES CHEF' SERIES
VOL 001, TORONTO
When starting COPS, we partnered with a food scientist and fine dining chef to create our original recipes. For our Winter 2024 weekly feature series, it was only right for us to work with some of Toronto’s best.
Throughout the first quarter, we partnered with three of Toronto’s top restaurants and culinary masterminds to curate our weekly feature drops. Each glaze representing the respective restaurant’s cuisine, vision and ethos.
These glazes were available exclusively at COPS for a limited time.
